Tips&tricks: print the project the way you want with COMPOSER

THe new COMPOSER module is so flexible and allows you to print the project just the way you want

Print the project the way you want with COMPOSER (v. 2016)

In this lesson you will learn how to page the project and print it the way you want.
Maybe you already know that 'till VENUS you could print the project just using the pre-defined existing templates (for customer and installer). There are a lot of templates available, but still you could not find the very one you need.

COMPOSER is your solution if you're running DomuS3D® v. 2016 . We'll see now how it works.

Once completed and saved the project in DomuS3D®, select the command Composer printout available in the Tools section of the Ribbon.

DomuS3D® will ask you to save project information in an external file (with extension: .d3p); such file is the standard format for COMPOSER, which is a separate Application than DomuS3D®. This gives you the opportunity of working on projects blueprints also in a second time.

Once you open COMPOSER, load the  .d3p file. The very first choice is related to the page size and orientation:

Now COMPOSER gives you the opportunity of dragging the project atoms (that are the graphic entities available in the project: they are listed in the left side of the window) and dropping them in the print area.

Move the atoms on the page and size them the way you want. You can even select multiple items (clicking the Shift keyboard button). If you size atoms manually, you will not be sure of the Scale you're currently applying (you will soon learn how to apply a defined scale). You can create more spreadsheets, the same way you do in Excel.

Here are the main commands available in COMPOSER.

You decide the Scale: each sheet can be given a specific Scale factor, picking it from a list of most used scale factors. As you change the scale, atoms will resize automatically.

These are the available features you have available in order to customize furthermore the blueprint:

  • rectangle, allows you to emphasize parts of the atoms, but also to create specific blocks
  • note, it is a structure containing lines and text, very useful to point some tiles and give a description
  • text, you can write anything you want inside a rectangle area
  • images, this command allows you to load an external image (.jpg, .png, .bmp, ...) and put it over the page. Images can be the renderings you formerly created for the project, your company logo, a customized background for the page, ...
  • tiles' list: you can create a list of tiles contained in the project, in the current room, or just in the selected atom (in case it is a wall, or the floor)
  • walls' list: one click and you have all walls available on page. No problem if some of them are useless: you can delete them quickly and easily
  • disclaimer, often used in order to inform the customer with a statement intended to specify or delimit the scope of rights and obligations in situations that involve some level of uncertainty, waiver, or risk. Disclaimer can be customized in COMPOSER, but if you want to customize it just once, get back to your DomuS3D®, open the Options mask, get to the Print section, and click the settings field and the dots, as you can see in the following image

The next image shows you a list of walls, with a disclaimer and 3 notes pointing the tiles contained in each wall:

This blueprint project can be saved and loaded later on in order to complete/change it or print it. A free upgrade is scheduled within 2/3 months, and COMPOSER will notify you about it in case you are connected to the Internet. Download and install of the new upgrade will be easy and quick.

Thanks for your time.
Enjoy DomuS3D® COMPOSER !
