DomuS3D Online Guide: Light compositing

Find out all the DomuS3D’s secrets

One of the most important and useful features of DomuS3D® 2018 is the Light Compositing: with it, you can edit light intensity even after the render process.

In the past, in fact, if you made the wrong choices with lights, you had to restart the rendering process again, wasting a lot of time.

Starting from DomuS3D® 2018, you can modify the light channels on the rendered image thanks to the EXR format availability and a specific engine; you just have to take care of grouping the lights prior starting the rendering in order to divide them in the most important channels. Indeed, we do not suggest to leave each light in a single channel, as the size on disk of the rendered image would be too big. If you do not proceed grouping lights by yourself, the Application groups all artificial lights in the same channel; a second channel is dedicated to the Sun light.

Here are some examples of the light compositing module. In the first image, you can see the result of the rendering process. You can one the light compositing mask selecting the command EXR light settings, available in the Effects section of the Ribbon.

In the next image, you can see the result achieved decreasing Sun light intensity, and increasing the lamp light (chandelier) in the center of the ceiling:

Finally, here it is the room by night, that you will get switching off the Sun light (with the lamp still left with a low intensity):
